Water Power Museum - 10:30 AM
Begin your adventure in Dimitsana, a historic village overlooking the Lousios River. Known for its role in the Greek War of Independence, Dimitsana was a major producer of gunpowder, using water-powered mills to support the revolution.
At the Open-Air Water Power Museum, you’ll step back in time to see how water mills, tanneries, and distilleries shaped local industry. This interactive museum offers a fascinating insight into Greece’s traditional craftsmanship and industrial heritage.
Monastery of Prodromou – 12:00 PM
Υour hike begins at the stunning Church of the Metamorphosis of Sotiros, perched on a rock with a panoramic view of the Lousios Gorge.
As you descend into the gorge, you’ll reach the Monastery of Prodromou, a Byzantine-era monastery (13th century) built into the cliffs. Admire the fortress-like architecture and breathtaking views of the gorge.
Enjoy Greek coffee and traditional sweets offered by the monks. Explore the beautiful frescoes and historic relics inside the monastery. A truly spiritual and scenic stop on your journey!
Hiking Through the Lousios Gorge – 1:00 PM

Ancient Gortys & Picnic by the River – 2:00 PM
Your hike concludes at Ancient Gortys, a significant archaeological site once home to a famous Asklepion (healing sanctuary). This site was even visited by Alexander the Great on his journey to Olympia. Walk among the ancient ruins, including columns, altars, and remnants of ancient baths, before heading to the Lousios River for a well-deserved break.
